Best in Show! How exciting, awesome, thrilling! It is beyond words! What a special dog! What a special team! His handler, Jan Williams, has been saying that Brian is one of the most fun specials she has shown in a while. To quote Jan, “He loves his job as a show dog!” This attitude along with their teamwork made 2009 a special year. In February, at the Northern California Shetland Sheepdog Specialty in San Jose, CA., Brian won Best in Specialty Show, BISS. They continued their winning roll with more Best of Breed and Group wins. On their way to the American Shetland Sheepdog National in Perry Georgia, they made a quick stop on April 12 at Moses Lake in Washington where they won Best in Show, BIS. Together, Brian and Jan have made an incredible winning team earning high rankings in the national sheltie standings Click here for a list of Brian’s current wins.

As a puppy, “Brian” has sweeps and specialty reserve wins under breeder judges Mrs. Marsha Wheatcroft, and  Dr. Al Bianchi. As a junior and young adult, he was owner-handled to wins under judges Mr. David Powers, Ms. Peri Norman, Mrs. Joan Frailey, Mr. John Connolly, and Mrs. Sheila Polk. Handled by Mr. Mark Hersman, “Brian” earned his first major under Mrs. Hildegard Morgan and an exciting specialty major reserve under Mrs. Ellen Worthington.  He also handled Brian to Best of Breed over specials for his second major under Mrs. Bettie Krause and a third major win and his championship under Mr. John Connolly.

At the 2010 ASSA National in Tucson, Arizona, judge Marcia Bittner honored us and this special dog by placing him  first in the Stud Dog class.  Once again we were flying high!

On June  5, 2010, Brian became the 3rd sheltie in history to become a GRAND CHAMPION!

Brian’s first champion offspring, CH Mistybrooks Tangent,  finished at the tender age of 8 months and 3 days. He has multiple kids who have either earned points or reserves at their very first shows!.  So far, Brian has been very strong for reproducing his beautiful, makes-you-want-to -melt face and head detail, abundant coat and good bone.  Click here to view pictures of Brian’s offspring.

“Brian” carries an abundant, harsh coat, an exquisite head piece with lovely, sweet, melting expression and full dentition, as well as a beautiful  outline and temperament.  He has lovely, correct movement in all directions: going, coming, and side.  He is vWD clear, eyes normal, and OFA good.

Brian spends part of the time in California at Braeleen Shelties, and in Washington at Mistybrook Shelties.  To contact us for information regarding breeding and stud fees, e-mail Kathy Brown at braeleen@davekat.com and/orJan Williams at: mistybrook@wavecable.net Her website is: www.mistybrookshelties.homestead.com
